About me…

I began my culinary journey as a small child sitting on the kitchen floor, watching as Nana and mommy prepared glorious mouthwatering meals! It sounds cliche, but it is true! It was there in that galley kitchen, where I learned first hand the art of Gullah-Geechee cooking, a cuisine where it’s expected to be messy and sophisticated! The staple dishes often included red rice, slow-cooked spiced legumes, seasonal local seafood, and braised veggies. Hot pots & cast-iron skillets filled with stewed meats, poultry, greens, tomatoes, and okra; it all resulted in the savory, heartwarming, and unmistakably South Carolinian dishes that I was raised on!

Growing up, I also had the advantage of being raised in an “Ol’ Skool” New York neighborhood in East Flatbush, Brooklyn; home to Caribbean, East Indian, and the Jewish populations. On every corner you’d find something different, from Latin Bodegas, Asian food markets, Caribbean bakeries, to fish mongers and old fashioned Jewish delis serving warm bagels and lox…Mmmmmm :)

All of those early influences helped to mold and shape my eclectic approach to food and cooking today!

Professionally I’ve thrown “My Hands in a lot of pots” ;) (pun intended) Sales, Retail, Marketing, etc…but I never felt anything until the day I received the opportunity to work in my first commercial kitchen. It’s been uphill ever since, and as they say, “The Rest is History"!

My cooking style is an authentic and modern take on traditional southern, West Indian and American techniques using the freshest locally sourced veggies, herbs, meats, seafood, poultry, and spices.

My hope is to ALWAYS prepare and share with you the healthy, delicious, sweet and savory meals that I grew up on with a twist from my table to yours…Cheers!
